Tickets to the 16 March Random Trip event that marks Müpa Budapest’s birthday, entitled Time Zones, sold out in seconds. In view of the huge demand to see one of the country’s most exciting musical projects, Random Trip will be performing another, completely new show, in an even more spacious setting. This special evening will see charismatic divas and virtuoso guitarists joining forces to take the audience on the kind of musical journey that has become the trademark of Random Trip over the past 15 years. The essence of the collective’s joyous sound is provided by a great deal of energy and the traversing of stylistic boundaries – where emotions, improvisation and musical excellence meet. The magic of music truly comes alive when different musical worlds overlap and create a new dimension together – as is sure to be the case here.

The idea for The Nutcracker ballet came from theone-time director of the Tsarist theatre who, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s fairy tale entitled the Nutcracker and the Mouse King, wanted to stage a fairy tale ballet that would surpass all that had gone before, both in sound and in spectacle. Tchaikovsky was asked to compose the music and after Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty his third and final ballet was also a great success. It was the six-movement suite of the music of The Nutcracker that was first performed in March 1892, and in December of the same year the spectacularly presented theatrical work was also performed. The Nutcracker has become the most frequently played ballet piece of all time.
