Allan Felix zsákutcába került az életével; felesége otthagyta, egyedül ül feldúlt manhattani lakásában és kudarcainak okairól töpreng... Fantáziaképeiben mindegyre feltűnik a nagy színész, a kemény, férfias hősöket alakító Humprey Bogart, s Felix mindegyre tőle akarja megtudni a sikeres férfiélet titkát...
