Kevés olyan zenei motívum van a világon, amit mindenki ismer. A Psycho gyilkossági jelentének kegyetlen vonós sikolya ilyen, pedig eredetileg a rendező nem kért zenét a jelenet alá!

Jörg Widmann is a musical polymath par excellence. He is not only one of the greatest living masters of his instrument, the clarinet, but also an excellent composer, orchestrator and conductor. His compositions are palatable, entertaining, thought-provoking, and inventive. His programs are harmonious and carefully selected.

As in previous years, the 2025/2026 Ferencsik season ticket is aimed primarily at lovers of the Viennese classics. Once again it, offers a wealth of enriching experiences.

It has been a long time since we thought of Cécile McLorin Salvant as merely the promising winner of the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. Her expressive voice capable of conveying profound emotions and refined sentiments, her virtuoso improvisation, and her brave, experimental combinations of styles have now come to represent a point of reference to a new generation.

“One is only an instrument played by the universe. A symphony must be like the world. It must embrace everything”, said Mahler, and this closeness to nature seems most manifest in his Symphony No. 3. The last time that the longest symphony in the history of music was performed by Mahler specialist Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra was ten years ago.

One of the founders of bebop, Dizzy Gillespie was a fantastic musician with a wonderful personality. It is by keeping these values front and centre that the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band continues the tradition started by the legendary trumpet-playing songwriter and band leader.

Soutoungoumba Diarra, aka Djely Tapa, originally moved from Mali to Canada to study aeronautics. It soon became clear to her, however, that she could not escape the family tradition of making music she had picked up during childhood.

Joep Beving holland zongoraművész a minimalista és a neo-klasszikus stílus mestere. Kompozícióira a műfaji határok elmosása jellemző, minden esetben a stílus felett álló filozófiai, spirituális jelentéssel, ami élőben sokszor transzcendens élményt ad előadónak, hallgatónak egyaránt.

Joep Beving Dutch pianist is a master of minimalist and neo-classical styles. His compositions are characterized by the blurring of genre boundaries, always guided by philosophical and spiritual meaning that transcend stylistic categories—often creating a transcendent live experience for both performer and audience.

For the 13th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. Every year, a different brilliant composer is selected to direct the masterpiece, and there are no other ensembles in Hungary than the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus who are better acquainted with this work perfect to underscore the hope of a new year.

Rembetiko is often referred to as the “Greek blues”. This traditional music with foundations in Asia minor and incorporating elements of Greek folklore, nonetheless, has deep roots in urban culture.

A japán származású, New Yorkban élő jazztrombitás, Takuya Kuroda nem ismeretlen a Müpa közönsége előtt, hiszen korábban Barabás Lőrinc vendégeként lépett fel az intézményben, zenekarával Veszprémben is koncertezett, mi több, egy Mörk-dalban is közreműködött már.

A tavalyi év váratlan fordulatai után új irányt kellett vennem – kívül-belül. Amikor már talán elengedtem a nagylétszámú, közös muzsikálás vágyát, valami mégis elkezdett formát ölteni körülöttem. Szép lassan összeállt egy csapat, és azon kaptuk magunkat, hogy együtt állunk rajthoz egy európai blues verseny döntőjében.
