Festive gala concert with Hungarian and English surtitles

The dice and the stopwatch will be coming out again at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall as it hosts another round of musical ‘battle’. When we talk about instrumental duels in the Hungarian capital these days, it is no longer necessarily Bach and Marchand, or even Liszt and Thalberg, that we are thinking of, because we have our own riveting concert series right here at Müpa Budapest.

Born in Vilnius and with Armenian roots, the soprano Asmik Grigorian is one of the biggest favourites – and no longer an outside favourite – on today’s international opera scene.

“One is only an instrument played by the universe. A symphony must be like the world. It must embrace everything”, said Mahler, and this closeness to nature seems most manifest in his Symphony No. 3. The last time that the longest symphony in the history of music was performed by Mahler specialist Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra was ten years ago.

A Lumen Christi Gospel Kórus a “fekete gospel” zene hazai képviselői, a néger spirituálé alapjára építkező dalaikat jellegzetesen egyéni felfogásban adják elő.

Joep Beving holland zongoraművész a minimalista és a neo-klasszikus stílus mestere. Kompozícióira a műfaji határok elmosása jellemző, minden esetben a stílus felett álló filozófiai, spirituális jelentéssel, ami élőben sokszor transzcendens élményt ad előadónak, hallgatónak egyaránt.

Joep Beving Dutch pianist is a master of minimalist and neo-classical styles. His compositions are characterized by the blurring of genre boundaries, always guided by philosophical and spiritual meaning that transcend stylistic categories—often creating a transcendent live experience for both performer and audience.

A Modern Art Orchestra fennállásának 20. évfordulóját nagyszabású gálakoncerttel ünnepli december 28-án a Várkert Bazárban. Pontosan húsz évvel azután, hogy a zenekar 2005. december 28-án a Thália Színházban először mutatkozott be a közönség előtt, most ismét ezen a napon ad koncertet – immár két évtized közös zenei élményeit ünnepelve.
