Current events

Brahms conquered the world of symphonic music through a series of variations written to a highly sophisticated melody attributed to Haydn, while Pleyel contributed to the otherwise not very rich pool of cello concertos of the classical era with his magnificent cello concertos in the last decades of the 18th century. Pleyel wrote impressive musical works with a refined taste, which became very popular in their time, and more than two hundred years later the path suddenly opened for the rediscovery of these works. In the second half of the concert, conducted by Domonkos Héja, Saint-Saëns’ impressive ‘Symphony No. 3 in C Minor’ – premiered in 1886 and also known as the famous ‘Organ Symphony’ – will be performed, which has many connections to the figure and music of Franz Liszt.
