The former is the Oscar- and Palme D’Or-winning film Parasite, directed by Bong Joon-ho in 2019; the latter is the series Squid Game, which is the most-watched programme ever on Netflix. Both feature Jung Jae-il’s distinctive, multi-layered music. A graduate of Seoul’s Jazz Academy, the composer is among the most innovative creators of film music and his eclectic palette has ample space for classical music (from Bach to Arvo Pärt) as well as pop music influences. At his first Hungarian concert, he will appear alongside the Budafok Dohnanyi Orchestra and several musical instruments from South Korea to perform his famous film music, and also some pieces from his solo albums.
