A Budafoki Dohnányi Zenekar hagyományos újévi koncertje a Müpában, meglepetésműsorral!

Legyen a vendégünk ezen a borzongós estén, a libabőr garantált!

Time and again, Budapest Bár delights the Müpa Budapest audience with their special performances and outstanding collaborators. On this occasion, the ensemble has been invited by Nők Lapja magazine to take the stage in the company of some very special guests. Róbert Farkas, the band’s leader and founder, originally aimed to breathe new life into the genre of Gypsy café music, thereby preserving and revitalizing old traditions.

The German-born British musician Max Richter, one of the busiest and most popular pianist/composers active in the modern post-minimalist classical genre today, is coming to Müpa Budapest to perform his first ever concert in Hungary.

Az Újévköszöntő 2026-ban is egyszerre lesz hagyományőrző és megújuló, bensőséges és ünnepélyes, egy olyan közös ünneplés, amely valódi lelki útravalót ad a közönségnek az új esztendő kezdetén.

Jazzbois first burst onto the scene at the 2017 Müpa Budapest Jazz Showcase. By 2023, they were hosting Kaláka as guests at the Festival Theatre, and, a couple of years later, they were conquering major international festivals: the Leverkusener Jazztage, the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, and the Montreal Jazz Festival, to name but a few. Jamie Cullum also dedicated an entire BBC radio show to the band, including a conversation with Viktor Sági.

Soutoungoumba Diarra, aka Djely Tapa, originally moved from Mali to Canada to study aeronautics. It soon became clear to her, however, that she could not escape the family tradition of making music she had picked up during childhood.

Cecilia Bartoli is returning to Müpa Budapest! Any chance to host the world-famous Italian coloratura soprano/mezzo-soprano is a cause for celebration: her appearances are invariably made extraordinary by her cascading displays of scintillating technical feats and the emotional and passionate intensity of her performances.

A 29-year-old female bass player from India. These few words are enough for most people to immediately think of Mohini Dey. Despite her young age, pages could be filled listing all the artists and festivals she has performed with and at since the age of nine. It was her father, also a bass player, who started her on her professional path, a journey which has so far brought her into contact with Steve Vai, Zakir Hussain, Quincy Jones, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Gergő Borlai.

Blessed with a ‘golden voice’, Jonathan Tetelman’s meteoric career has taken him to the world’s leading opera houses, while his records have picked up a succession of awards. We heard him alongside Elīna Garanča in 2021 at Müpa Budapest, and he has since become one of the most sought-after singers of Puccini.

Program:
Shostakovich: Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 77
Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major (‘Eroica’), Op. 55

The Oscar-winning composer Tan Dun’s landmark opera blends Eastern philosophy with the language of Western music. This is the first time the work will be heard in Hungary, and it will be conducted by the composer himself. Set in the 7th century, it tells the story of the passionate love of a Japanese prince and a Chinese princess, and of their fateful quest for the legendary The Classic of Tea by Lu Yu.

A Karzatkoncert-sorozat következő állomása Bécs, az osztrák fővárosról pedig garantáltan mindenkinek a zene jut eszébe, legyen szó a klasszika mestereiről, a Monarchia időszakának pezsgő zenei életéről vagy az új bécsi iskola modern muzsikájáról.

The Japanese singer-songwriter Ichiko Aoba, who is also recognised as a music publisher and acclaimed film composer, creates enchanting, ambient folk-pop songs that explore the boundaries between reality and fantasy. Her latest album, Luminescent Creatures from 2025, is considered one of the year’s most celebrated releases.

Taking the stage together with one of the world’s most celebrated orchestras at this concert will be two illustrious sons of musical families: Paavo Järvi, who hails from a family of conductors, and Alexandre Kantorow, a pianist born to violinist parents.

Twenty-five years ago, four highly skilled French musicians decided to take the freedom of jazz and the pulsating sound of funk, and shape them into an entirely new concept by exploiting the possibilities offered by electronica. The experiment proved successful, and Electro Deluxe was born in Paris. Later, courtesy of American singer James Copley, the band discovered new vistas to explore.

Every year since 2008, this festive gala of Hungarian folk and world music has filled Müpa Budapest to bursting. On this occasion, the evening will be framed by the Moldavian and Gyimes dance house music of Róbert Kerényi and the Szigony Band, while the still-youthful musicians of the Sarjú Band are also experienced dance house performers.

A harmincas generáció két átütő tehetségű képviselője, az orgonista Tabajdi Ádám és a trombitás Pálfalvi Tamás mindketten hangszerük legsikeresebb művészei közé tartoznak. A műsor csupa változatosság és szépség.

Together with her internationally successful early music ensemble, L’Arpeggiata, harpist and theorbo-player Christina Pluhar are renowned for fashioning each and every concert programme out of a unique project. For this occasion, they have chosen one of the greatest masterpieces from the Baroque opera literature:

A fiatal portugál muzsikusok által Amszterdamban alapított Maat Saxophone Quartet bármit játsszon a fadótól az új zenéig, az egyéniség nem hiányozhat produkciójukból. Az egyebek mellett Portugália és Hollandia legrangosabb zenei versenyein is győzelmet arató együttes már két lemezt is kiadott, a kritika pedig rögtön az elsőről azt írta: „ígéretes, ördögien jó és mennyeien ragályos” .

The Clair-Obscur project is the coming together of two storied ensembles, and a unique interplay between two musical traditions.

The Kossuth Prize-winning pianist János Balázs was 13 when he was accepted to the Liszt Academy of Music's Special School for Exceptional Young Talents in 2002. By the time he finished at the university, he had racked up victories at six international piano competitions.

Age: 3-7 year

Two vastly different yet mutually enriching musical universes meet on the Müpa stage this evening: Söndörgő, one of Hungary’s most exciting representatives of Balkan and South Slavic musical traditions, and the world-renowned Balanescu Quartet, which masterfully combines contemporary classical music with boundary-defying creative improvisation.

The 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic are a unique ensemble, composed exclusively of instrumentalists from the cello section of one of the world’s top symphony orchestras.
